The network of Education Associations of Tasmania
NEAT is a federation of professional teaching associations that serves the interests of educators throughout Tasmania. Membership of NEAT is open to all professional teacher associations across all levels of education; including early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary, as well as all systems and sectors covering Government, Catholic systemic, Independent schools and Tertiary institutions.
NEAT has an important advocacy role and keeps members informed of national and state issues facing the state-based joint councils of the national association, the Australian Professional Teaching Association (APTA). NEAT offers the financial members contact with the broader educational community and provides a common voice to share issues of interest. Through APTA, NEAT has access to national projects and that provide services and funding to support member associations. In addition, NEAT’s financial members can receive a range of important insurance benefits at greatly reduced rates. These benefits are increasing essential for mounting workshops and conferences. For fuller details, contact the NEAT Secretary.
As we share our experiences and work practices within NEAT, we also acknowledge and pay respect to the knowledge, deep history and cultural practices embedded for all time within Tasmanian Aboriginal ownership of Country.
